The secret to making perfect candy at home is as easy as one, two, three, four.

One: Measure the ingredients carefully.

Two: Cook over low to medium heat until your tested candy thermometer reads the correct temperature for the recipe.

Three: Cool the syrup according to the instructions for the type of candy you're making and add the final ingredients.

Four: Beat or pull the candy until it suddenly turns from gooey syrup into candy that you can be proud of.
